Speaking at the India Digital Open Summit 2018, Akash Ambani, Director of Reliance Jio Infocomm, said that open source is very important for his company.
“The year 2017 was the tipping point for AR and VR globally. In India, AR and VR are in the initial stages of adoption but at Jio, we believe it will grow at a 50 percent compounded rate for the next five years,” Akash said.
He also spoke on the evolution of artificial intelligence and blockchain.
“2017 was the year of blockchain and digital currency, highlighted by all the buzz surrounding bitcoin. Blockchain provides a distributed ledger system for enabling secure transactions. One of the fundamental features was bitcoin but it can be used in other fields such as banking, education IoT, real estate, etc.
“Jio is committed to improve the lives of every Indian in a positive way. At Jio, we are committed to use open source technology and it will be a key driving force," he added.
