Google to get Chrome to Android?

It‘s been a question that‘s been baffling most people for a while now.

It’s been a question that’s been baffling most people for a while now. Both Chrome and Android are a part of Google; however, there has been no news or development related to getting the Chrome browser onto Android. While Android does have its own native browser, it isn’t Google’s mobile version of one of the most popular browsers around - Chrome – which is quite absurd.

To make it clear, Apple devices - Safari. Android devices - _____?.

However, this looks set to change as Google’s WebKit-Dev group have announced that they intend to work closely with the Android team to bring Chrome to Android devices, according to Techcrunch. The WebKit-Dev group had earlier tried porting Chrome to Android but left the project midway due to ‘a variety of reasons’. Now, they plan to remove the existing incomplete Android port and develop an altogether new version for Android.

Google has a separate Chromium OS – unrelated to the Android OS and hence branding their Android browser as Chrome might just lead to a few mix-ups. Irrespective, Chrome on Android will most definitely be welcomed. There are a range of browsers currently on the Android market – Opera, Firefox etc. and they work quite satisfactorily. However, setting up Chrome as a USP for Android will definitely be good news for Google.
