Barfi tops TOIFA's technical awards

Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Barfi' led in the technical awards category at the TOIFA with four trophies while Sujoy Ghosh's 'Kahaani' bagged three awards including for best scriptwriting at a glittering ceremony, hosted by Karan Johar and Chitrangda Singh.
Ghosh also shared the best story trophy with Advaita Kala for the Vidya Balan-starrer while Namrata Rao won for best editing. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Barfi', which is leading in the main awards category too, saw Pritam winning the best background score. It also won best art direction for Rajat Podar and best costume design for Aki Narula and Shafalina and best cinematography for S Ravi Varman.Also read: Shah Rukh Khan charms Vancouver, to perform despite injuryKatrina Kaif's item song 'Chikni Chameli' from 'Agneepath' was adjudged the best for choreography. Director Anurag Kashyap shared the best dialogue trophy with Akhilesh Jaiswal, Zeishan Quadri and Sachin Ladia for 'Gangs of Wasseypur'. Kvsanjit was recognised for best special effects in Bipasha Basu starrer 'Raaz 3' while best action went to Conrad Palmisano and Markos Rounthwaite for Salman Khan starrer 'Ek Tha Tiger'. "Working on 'Ek Tha Tiger' was super fun and I am extremely thrilled to have won the first ever TOIFA for best action," said Conrad while accepting his trophy. 'Anita Khushwaha was recognised for best sound recording for 'Talaash'. The function also saw Indian cinema being celebrated with a special fashion show by designer Manish Malhotra. Screen beauties Urmila Matondkar, Raveena Tandon, Neha Dhupia, Nargis Fakhri and Sonal Chauhan brought alive the fashion of the 50, 60s, 70, 80s, 90s and now with their beautiful clothes. 'Dance India Dance' winner Salman Y Khan electrified the stage with choreography from Shiamak Davar. The event was also attended by Christy Clark, the Premier of British Columbia. Clark hoped that the award will help the two countries strengthen their ties. "As Premier of the Province of British Columbia, I would like to express my pride at being chosen to host the inaugural Times of India Film awards. This prestigious international event is a cause for celebration and excitement for Indian cinema fans around the world and especially here in BC.
