IMG for show-cause notices to cos for coal block dev delay
The government had formed the IMG last year to review the progress of coal blocks allocated to firms for captive use and recommend action, including de-allocation.

The Inter-Ministerial panel on coal blocks, which met today to review the progress of 17 mines, has recommended that show-cause notices be issued to some companies for delays in developing them. It also suggested that explanations be sought for delays in the production of mines in case of some other cases.
"The Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) which met today reviewed 17 coal blocks. The panel recommended to issue show cause notices in some cases and seek explanation for delaying the development of mines in other cases," said a source. "The coal blocks of some of the companies like NTPC, Damodar Valley Corp (DVC) and Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corp were reviewed by the panel," the source added.Also Read: Jaiswal labels ex-coal secy Parakh as 'Sheikh Chilli'However, the name of the companies which were recommended for show-cause notices could not be ascertained. The panel under the chairmanship of Additional Secretary in the Coal Ministry has members from other ministries including steel and power.The IMG will also take up another 30 cases over the next two days.
