Leading telecom operators Vodafone, Idea and Airtel have launched new offers enabling users to enjoy free roaming services while travelling to any part of the country.
Vodafone's special tariff voucher for its pre-paid subscribers offers free incoming calls on national roaming at Rs 5 a day. The outgoing call charges, while on roaming under this daily plan, would be billed at 1.5 paise per second, the company said in a statement. Additionally, it has also come up with a monthly plan with free incoming calls on roaming starting at Rs 71 for its pre-paid customers and Rs 75 for its post-paid customers.
The company has also launched two roaming tariff plans - Roaming Tariff Plan and Roaming Tariff Plan Free - for both its pre- and post-paid customers. These plans come with reduced incoming roaming tariff and free incoming roaming benefit. The price point for the new plans for pre-paid customers start at Rs 196 (varies from state to state) and Rs 149 for its post-paid users.
Idea has also launched two new vouchers for its over 123 million subscribers, which offer roaming calling rates at par with Home calling rates, without any additional roaming charges.
Idea's new value vouchers priced between Rs 230-240, and another priced between Rs 35-40, offer the same rates for local, STD, ISD calling, and SMS, as the user pays for using these services while in the home circle. Further, Idea has reduced incoming roaming charges to 75 paise/minute for users who avail Rs 35-40 voucher, whereas incoming is absolutely free for those who avail Rs 230-240 voucher.
Idea users who recharge with the new vouchers will be able to enjoy the roaming benefits for 6 months from the date of recharge. The new special roaming vouchers will be available starting July 1st, 2013, across all 22 circles.
Recently, Airtel also announced free incoming calls on national roaming. The company announced incoming calls free on national roaming at Rs 5 per day. Airtel user can activate it by sending an SMS: to 121.
Besides, there is another offer for Airtel prepaid subscribers. They can opt for the one-time pack of Rs 79, which provides then free incoming calls on roaming for a period of 30 days. There is also a plan for postpaid subscribers. By paying monthly rental of Rs 75 per month, postpaid subscribers can also get free incoming call while roaming.
