Maruti Suzuki July sales rise 1% to 83,299 units
Maruti Suzuki sold 75,145 units in the domestic market last month, up 6 percent from a year ago. But exports were down 27 percent to 8,154 units.

India's largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki said its total sales in July rose 1.3 percent year-on-year to 83,299 units, helped by a rebound in demand for mini cars and the compact DZire, although sales of utility vehicles and demand in the export market remained slow.The company sold 75,145 units in the domestic market, up 6 percent year-on-year. But exports slipped 27 percent to 8,154 units.Sales of its mini cars (800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR) rose 16 percent to 33,587 units in July and DZire sales accelerated 34 percent to 15,249 units. Van sales also rose 10 percent to 7,543 units.However, sales of UVs (Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga) declined 38 percent to 4,562 units and compact car (Swift, Ritz and Estilo) sales fell 12 percent to 13,882 units, last month, Maruti said.Demand for its SX4 sedan also remained lacklusture, with sales tumbling by more than half to 322 units.So far between April-July, the company's total sales are down 8 percent to around 3.5 lakh units.At 10:10hrs, Maruti Suzuki shares were up 1.1 percent at Rs 1,340.80 on NSE.Also Read: Petrol price hiked by 70 paise a litre, diesel by 50 paise Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
