Russia launched one of its largest aerial assaults of the year on Ukraine, firing 574 drones and 40 missiles, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, as reported by the Associated Press. The coordinated attack struck multiple targets, primarily in western Ukraine, leaving at least one person dead and 15 injured, officials said.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that among the targets hit was a major American electronics manufacturer operating in the region, though he did not provide further details.
The scale and focus of the strike, deep into Ukraine’s western territory, signal a potential shift in Moscow’s strategy, aiming not only at frontline zones but also at critical infrastructure and international commercial interests within Ukraine.
The latest escalation comes as Kyiv continues to push for stronger security guarantees and enhanced air defense systems from its allies.
