Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed US President Donald Trump’s newly unveiled 20-point Gaza peace proposal and warned that “if Hamas rejects the plan, Israel will finish the job itself.”
Opening his remarks with praise for Trump, Netanyahu told the president: “You’ve proven time and again what I’ve said many times. You are the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House.” He added: “I support your plan to end the war in Gaza which achieves our war aims.”
Trump presented the 20-point framework as a deal that would disarm Hamas, demilitarise Gaza, and secure the release of hostages if the group accepts the proposal. “If accepted by Hamas, proposal calls for release of all hostages,” the president said, adding that the plan would ensure “Gaza never again poses a threat to Israel.”
Netanyahu stressed that Israel prefers a peaceful resolution but vowed decisive action if the plan is rejected or not implemented.
“If Hamas rejects the plan, Israel will finish the job itself,” he said. He reiterated demands that all hostages — living and deceased — be returned within 72 hours, and warned: “This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done.”
Hamas says it has not received US ceasefire proposal. A senior Hamas official told the BBC that the group has not received any ceasefire initiative from US President Donald Trump through mediators.
