Hamas receives White House proposal

A Palestinian source familiar with the ceasefire negotiations told the BBC that Hamas officials have been given the White House's 20-point peace proposal.

"Qatari and Egyptian officials have handed over the White House plan to end the war in Gaza to Hamas officials in Doha," the source said.

Earlier, a senior Hamas official had told the BBC that the group had not received any ceasefire initiative from US President Donald Trump through mediators, according to the BBC.

The official added that Hamas remains open to reviewing any proposal that could end the Gaza war but emphasized that any agreement must protect Palestinian interests, ensure a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and bring the conflict to an end.

On the issue of weapons, the official said: "The weapons of the resistance are a red line as long as the occupation continues. The issue of arms can only be discussed within the framework of a political solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders."

Following the joint Trump-Netanyahu press conference, Hamas told Reuters that they have not yet received the plan officially. “Hamas hasn’t yet received the plan officially, nothing beyond media publication," a Hamas official said.

The announcement comes as US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a joint press conference, where it was stated that residents of Gaza will not be forcibly relocated and that President Trump would lead a transitional authority under the peace plan unveiled by the White House on Monday.

The proposal, which Trump has already shared with Arab leaders, was made public during his meeting with Netanyahu, although there was no immediate indication that the Israeli prime minister had formally accepted it.
