Charlie Kirk assassination: Trump ally Laura Loomer links suspect Tyler Robinson to transgender movement

Soon after 22-year-old Tyler Robinson reportedly confessed to killing right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk, rumours and conjectures began flying online about his background and antecedents. While an AFP report called Robinson a "straight-A student raised Mormon by Republican parents in small-town Washington, Utah," US President Donald Trump's aide Laura Loomer quoted a tweet by a journalist to claim that the shooter lived with his transgender partner.

Loomer retweeted Fox News Reporter Brooke Singman's post on X, where she wrote, "EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson lived with his transgender partner, sources tell me. The individual, who is a male transitioning to a female, is fully cooperating with the FBI. Sources tell me the FBI had texts and other communications between Robinson and the individual that helped FBI authorities solidify that Robinson was indeed the shooter."

Quoting Brooke Singman's tweet, Loomer wrote, "These people are sick. It’s time to designate the transgender movement as a terrorist movement. Trans people are a threat to society. We can’t allow them to continue killing people. They need to be socially ostracized and the President should make medical transitioning ILLEGAL in our country. It’s time."

As per an AFP report, Robinson's father sells granite kitchen countertops, his mother is a healthcare provider for handicapped people.

His parents are inactive members of the Mormon church, and family photos on social media depict theirs's as a family that loved travelling, camping and hunting.

While his parents are Republicans, Robinson registered as unaffiliated but did not cast a ballot in 2024.

Authorities said that on Wednesday Robinson used a sniper rifle to shoot Kirk with a single bullet to the neck from a rooftop, while the 31-year-old activist was speaking at Utah Valley University, about four hours north of Washington.

AFP reported that Robinson, the eldest of three boys, was described by 66-year-old Kris Schwiermann, the retired head custodian at the local primary school, as a "quiet, respectful, kind of stayed to himself. But he was really, really smart."
