This is the second time she has been summoned by the ED. The central agency had earlier summoned the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief’s mother for questioning on July 14.

From what the leaders – both representing the Centre and the UT – have said, the engagement, it seems, was cordial without any flare-ups and with both sides agreeing on the need for resumption of the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir.

While there has been no official word on the agenda of the meeting, reports have suggested that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would urge leaders to cooperate with the delimitation commission and set the electoral process in motion in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting on June 24 in New Delhi is being seen as the first crucial step by the Centre aimed at resuming the political process in the UT after the removal of special status to the erstwhile state on August 5, 2019.

Speaking to reporters at the end of a huddle of the People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), she said during the meeting with the prime minister on Thursday, she will press for the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir which was "snatched away from us".
