The answer is... DITTY!

If you got it, awesome! If not, don’t worry—there’s always another chance tomorrow. Now, let’s talk a bit about how Wordle became such a sensation.

A quick wordle backstory

Wordle actually started as a sweet little love project. Engineer Josh Wardle created it as a fun word game for his partner, but it didn’t stay a secret for long. Soon, it spread like wildfire, with players all over the world joining in on the daily challenge.
Fans even created their own versions, like Squabble (a battle royale take), Heardle (for music lovers), and Quordle (where you guess multiple words at once). The game got so big that The New York Times eventually bought it, and now you’ll even find people livestreaming their Wordle attempts on TikTok!

What’s the best Wordle starting word?

There’s no single “best” word, but if you want a strong start, go for one with at least two vowels and some common consonants like S, T, R, or N. This helps you eliminate (or confirm) key letters quickly.

At first, players could access past Wordle puzzles whenever they wanted. But The New York Times requested the archive be taken down—though later, they introduced their own version, available only to NYT Games subscribers.

Is Wordle getting harder?

Nope! It might feel that way sometimes, but the game hasn’t actually changed. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, though, you can always turn on Hard Mode in the settings.
