Mumbai, known as the City of Dreams, is also one of India’s most expensive places to live. Housing costs in prime neighbourhoods continue to rise, making even a modest flat a major expense. Recently, Mumbai content creator Muskan Ranka gave viewers a tour of her Bandra apartment, revealing just how steep the rent can be.
At the start of the video, Muskan joked that her rent costs her “both kidneys” before confirming that she pays Rs 1.11 lakh per month, including maintenance. In the video, shared by Arya Kothari on Instagram, she gives a tour of her home, which she calls “Baddie Bhavan”. The flat features a living area in shades of white, taupe and beige. Many viewers were surprised that it appeared larger than the 600 square feet she had previously mentioned.
As a full-time content creator, Muskan also showed her lighting setup, explaining that it supports her shoots and content production. She took viewers through the two bedrooms, the kitchen, and a small balcony.
Muskan did not reveal her income but acknowledged that living in Mumbai comes at a high price. She noted that in areas like Bandra, rents for similar 2BHK flats typically range from Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh per month, depending on the size and amenities.
Bandra West is one of Mumbai’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Its popularity comes from its cultural scene, restaurants, cafés, and access to transit and commercial areas. Such demand contributes to the high rental costs.
The video has attracted widespread attention online. Many viewers were surprised by the high rent, particularly since Muskan lives alone. One user commented, “Oh wow. So you're paying Rs 1,11,000 rent, living solo… But apparently you need Rs 1.5–2 lakh rent to live comfortably? Either Bandra has launched a new subscription tier, or the math has quietly moved out to a cheaper suburb.”
Others questioned the actual size of the flat. One user wrote, “This is 660 sqft???” while another added, “That looked way bigger than 600 sq ft!” Kothari responded, “Hey, it’s actually 630 sq ft. Shot on 0.5 wide angle, so the perspective feels different on camera.”
Another viewer made a light-hearted remark, “Time to become a full time content creator.”
