French President Emmanuel Macron made a late-night visit to Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CST) railway station, walking through the historic premises under tight security. He was accompanied by his wife, Brigitte Macron, and appeared relaxed while observing the architecture and surroundings during the brief stop.
In video footage, Macron is seen strolling through sections of the station, pausing to admire the illuminated interiors and exteriors, as officials and railway authorities escorted him. Security personnel maintained a controlled perimeter throughout the visit, which followed a day packed with bilateral engagements and public appearances in Mumbai.

Macron’s morning jog draws attention
Earlier in the day, Macron surprised locals by joining morning walkers for a jog along Marine Drive. Wearing a navy blue T-shirt, black shorts, and running shoes, the French President continued his fitness routine despite being on an official visit. The jog proceeded with minimal disruption, accompanied by security personnel, and quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of his Mumbai visit.
Commenting on Macron’s public appearance, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Mumbai hosts several marathons. And to have this sort of public exposure centred around health conveys a very good message to the youth of India and the youth across the world. I think that is the sentiment with which we should take this particular idea of President Macron jogging in Mumbai."
Macron on India-France partnership
During the India-France Innovation Forum, Macron highlighted the depth of bilateral cooperation, especially in defence and technology.
“In the field of defence, France is a steadfast partner of Make in India. Our high-level cooperation allows us to develop next-generation engines, multi-role helicopters, advanced combat aircraft, submarines, etc.," he said, adding that the partnership reflects “two great nations choosing each other on land, at sea, and in the sky, not by default but by conviction."
He further noted that collaboration extends beyond defence, stating that innovation should enhance everyday life and make it “healthier and safer."
