‘They think they are creating god…’ Mark Zuckerberg’s takes a jab at some tech companies’ approach towards AI

Meta CEO is of the opinion that AI technology shouldn’t be under the control of one company or to have just one single AI model that could do it all.

When it comes to AI, Meta and Mark Zuckerberg have gone all in. But that can be said for a lot of tech companies. Zuckerberg, however, wants to adopt a different approach. In a recent interview with YouTuber Kane Sutter, Zuckerberg expressed his belief that there won’t be a single dominant AI.

A vocal advocate of open-source models, Zuckerberg said that the value of open-source AI tools will be high as it allows for broader access.

However, he took a dig at unnamed competitors who hoard their technology, suggesting they think they’re “creating God.”

"I find it a pretty big turnoff when people in the tech industry kind of talk about building this one true AI," Zuckerberg said in the interview. "It's almost as if they kind of think they're creating God or something."

According to Zuckerberg, this approach isn’t suitable for creating the best experiences for people. He advocates for diverse AI solutions that cater to various interests.

"The future is not going to be one AI," Zuckerberg said. "It's going to be a lot of AIs with a lot of different people being able to create different things.”

The Meta CEO further pointed out that his company believes in having multiple models for catering to different needs. “People want to interact with lots of different people and businesses, and there needs to be a lot of different AIs that get created to reflect people's different interests.”

No one ‘big AI’

Zuckerberg further reiterated his belief of not having one single AI that could do it all.  “Some people are saying that there's going to be the one true big AI that can do everything," Zuckerberg said. "I just don't think that that's the way that things tend to go,” he added.

He also said that the technology shouldn’t be under the control of one company or to have just one single AI model that could do it all.
