DigiLocker is a digital document storage platform under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY). It enables users to keep authenticated documents like driving licence, registration certificate, Aadhaar, PAN and several other government-issued records in digital form. Under the Information Technology Rules, 2016, documents fetched directly from issuing authorities through DigiLocker are legally valid. This eliminates the need to carry physical copies and helps access documents quickly when required.
