DigiLocker allows users to store verified digital documents such as driving licence, Aadhaar, PAN and other essential records. This guide explains downloading, account setup, fetching issued documents and uploading files.

Digilocker

DigiLocker is a digital document storage platform under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY). It enables users to keep authenticated documents like driving licence, registration certificate, Aadhaar, PAN and several other government-issued records in digital form. Under the Information Technology Rules, 2016, documents fetched directly from issuing authorities through DigiLocker are legally valid. This eliminates the need to carry physical copies and helps access documents quickly when required.

How to download the DigiLocker app on Android, iPhone and web
1. Open the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
2. Search for DigiLocker.
3. Tap Install to download the application.
4. Users may also access DigiLocker through the official web portal.

Getting started: How to create your DigiLocker account with Aadhaar
1. Open the DigiLocker app and tap Sign Up.
2. Enter your name, date of birth, gender and mobile number.
3. Create a 6-digit security PIN.
4. Enter your Aadhaar number.
5. Enter the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
6. After verification, your account links to your Aadhaar identity.

How to fetch your driving licence and registration certificate in DigiLocker
1. Log in to the DigiLocker app.
2. Open the Search tab.
3. Select Ministry of Road Transport and Highways or your State Transport Department.
4. Choose Driving Licence or Registration of Vehicles.
5. Enter the DL or RC number.
6. Tick the consent checkbox and tap Get Document.
7. The verified document appears under Issued Documents.

How to link and store your PAN card in DigiLocker
1. Go to the Search section.
2. Select Income Tax Department, Govt of India.
3. Tap PAN Verification Record.
4. Enter your PAN number and the name as printed on the card.
5. Tap Get Document to retrieve the verified record.

How to upload non-issued documents to DigiLocker Drive
1. Open the DigiLocker Drive section.
2. Tap the Upload icon.
3. Choose a file from your phone storage.
4. The file uploads to your 1GB cloud storage allocation.
These manually uploaded files are not verified, and authorities may ask for physical copies when required.
