Last year, Samsung’s rugged mid-ranged lineup, the Galaxy XCover series, debuted in India with the Galaxy XCover 7. Now, the South Korean brand is expected to announce the successor to the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, the Galaxy XCover 8 Pro, globally soon. Ahead of its official unveiling, the smartphone has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark platform and the TUV Rheinland website, revealing its key specifications.
Samsung Galaxy XCover 8 Pro: Expected specifications
According to a report by Sammobile, a new Samsung handset has surfaced on the Geekbench database with model number SM-G766U1, which is most likely a Galaxy XCover 8 Pro. It also confirms that the smartphone will have 6GB RAM and Samsung will ship it with Android 15, with One UI 7 skin on top.
Moreover, the listing reveals that an octa-core chipset will power the phone with a prime core clock speed of 2.50GHz clock speed, three cores capped at 2.40GHz, and two cores at 1.80GHz. These CPU configurations suggest that the upcoming handset runs on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC, which is supposed to be 50% faster than the Snapdragon 778G found on the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.
The listing also reveals that confirms that the Galaxy XCOver 8 Pro will pack a 4,265 mAh battery, which is just a bit larger than the 4,050 mAh battery on the Galaxy XCover 7. Interestingly, the purported Galaxy XCover 8 Pro was also spotted on Japan's TUV Rheinland website with model numbers SM-G766B, SM-G766U, SM-G766U1, and SM-G766W. All of these model numbers match the Geekbench listing and could belong to different variants of the upcoming rugged smartphone.
