Roblox partners with Shopify, to introduce Price Optimization tool

Roblox Corporation's partnership with Shopify means “creators who sell physical goods with Shopify will be able to sell those same products in a Roblox experience.”

Roblox Corp is looking to boost its creator business on e-commerce portals. Taking the first steps towards this, Roblox has partnered with Shopify and plans to rope in more e-commerce platforms later.

Starting in early 2025, Roblox will “enable eligible creators to sell physical merchandise directly from within their experiences”. Roblox Corporation's partnership with Shopify means “creators who sell physical goods with Shopify will be able to sell those same products in a Roblox experience”, Roblox co-founder and CEO David Baszucki said in a news post on the website.

He added they’ll “pilot this solution later this year with a handful of creators, brands, and e-commerce partners”.

Roblox to introduce Price Optimization tool for creators

Roblox Corporation is also going to launch a new tool for creators called Price Optimization “in the coming months” so that they can identify “the most attractive pricing strategy”. Price Optimization is a recommendation tool for Roblox developers that runs price tests to identify the most attractive pricing strategy for their products.

“We expect this tool will help creators thrive. As a fast follow, we plan to experiment with including regional pricing recommendations. Optimizing pricing by region will enable developers to set prices tailored to local markets and users to see pricing that’s more reflective of their local economy”, said Baszucki in the news post.

The Roblox CEO also shared that in 2024 “brands such as e.l.f. Cosmetics, Fandango, Walmart, and Warner Bros. started testing commerce on Roblox”. He added that people aged 13 or older “discovered clothing and beauty products within experiences — and with a few simple clicks, these physical items showed up on their doorsteps”. Some even bought movie tickets for the Beetlejuice sequel, via a virtual Fandango box office in the [Beetlejuice] Escape the Afterlife experience.
