Xiaomi has launched a new budget phone in India called the Redmi A5. With the new phone, Xiaomi aims to offer advanced features at an affordable price with this new device, it is primarily for users looking for a reliable and feature-rich option in the entry-level segment.

Redmi A5: Price and availability

The Redmi A5 is priced at Rs 6,499 for the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 7,499. The smartphone will be available for purchase starting 16th April 2025. It will be sold through Mi.com, Amazon, Flipkart, and offline retail stores.

Redmi A5: Specifications

The Redmi A5 features a 6.88-inch HD+ display offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen has a peak brightness of 600 nits and features Triple TÜV Rheinland certification for reduced eye strain. It is IP52-rated for basic protection against dust and water splashes. The device has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a bottom-firing speaker with 150% volume boost.

For photography, it includes a 32MP AI dual rear camera setup. An 8MP front camera is provided for selfies and video calls.
Powering the phone is a 5200mAh battery, and it comes bundled with a 15W fast charger in the box. The Redmi A5 runs on Android 15 and will receive two years of software updates along with four years of security patches.
