Nothing has confirmed that its first Android 16 beta, powered by Nothing OS 4.0, will be available to Phone (3) users starting early August. The company announced the closed beta program via its community forums, inviting users to sign up and test the upcoming update.
The Android 16-based Nothing OS 4.0 was first teased at the Phone (3) launch earlier this month. Now, the beta timeline is official. Registrations are open until August 3, and selected users will begin receiving the build within a week of that deadline.
Only a limited number of users will be admitted, with participants selected via a sign-up form. Those chosen will get early access to Nothing OS 4.0, which promises a cleaner, more cohesive design system and native Android 16 features. While full details on the changes remain under wraps, Nothing says the beta will run through early September, offering a glimpse at its refined UI direction ahead of the stable rollout.
As for the Phone (3) itself, it builds on the company’s distinctive transparent design language while refining the overall experience. The device features a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1600 nits. Powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, the Phone (3) is available with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, ensuring top-tier performance for gaming and multitasking.
The rear camera setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor with OIS and a 50MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus, while the front has a 32MP shooter for selfies and video calls. The Phone (3) also includes a 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging and wireless charging support. Other highlights include IP54 dust and water resistance, an improved Glyph Interface, and stereo speakers tuned for spatial audio.
The upcoming Nothing OS 4.0 beta adds another layer of excitement for early adopters looking to experience Android 16 before its official rollout.
