Nothing has confirmed the design of its next-generation wireless earbuds, the Ear (3), by releasing the first official image. The company has kept the overall look similar to the Ear (2) from 2023 but introduced changes to the charging case, including a new microphone and a dedicated talk button. More details will be announced on September 18, 2025.
Design and build
The Ear (3) continues the transparent aesthetic that has become Nothing’s signature. At first glance, the earbuds and case mirror the design of the previous model. However, the charging case is now partly made using 100 percent recycled anodized aluminum. Nothing says this shift to metal components is aimed at improving durability while offering a more refined finish.
The earbuds themselves incorporate a reengineered metal antenna, allowing for a slimmer profile while maintaining wireless performance.
Talk button and microphone
For the first time, the charging case includes a built-in microphone, referred to as the “Super Mic,” and a dedicated talk button. Nothing has not explained the exact role of these additions. The button could be used to trigger a voice assistant, handle calls directly from the case, or even function as a wireless microphone setup similar to camera accessories on the market.
Launch timeline
In the lead-up to launch, Nothing has shared teaser images on its social channels that highlight design refinements but avoid technical specifications. Full details about audio performance, connectivity features, and the purpose of the new talk button will be revealed at the official announcement later this month.
