Gnani.ai, a voice-based generative artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has raised $4 million (Rs 30 crore) in its Series A funding round from Info Edge Ventures, underscoring the rising investor interest on this segment.

The capital from the fund-raise will be used for sales growth and expansion of Gnani.ai’s business across geographies, the firm said in a statement on July 30.

Gnani.ai was founded in 2016 by Ganesh Gopalan and Ananth Nagaraj, after they worked on scaling tech businesses at Texas Instruments, IBM and Aricent.

Gnani offers a no-code voice-first platform with multiple product capabilities like Omnichannel Conversational Automation, Agent Assist, Voice Biometrics, Omnichannel Analytics etc.

"We are thrilled to welcome Info Edge Ventures to our journey. Gnani.ai’s generative AI-powered voice automation platform has helped financial institutions collect over $2 billion from their end customers in the last six months," said Gopalan said.

Gnani has recently announced a series of Voice-first AI SLM models (Small Language Models). The initial rollout of Gnani.ai’s SLMs targets sectors like domains such as banking, insurance, automotive, and retail.

The company counts Samsung Ventures as an investor and has raised around $8 million till date.

The growing field of voice-based artificial intelligence (AI) is capturing the attention of investors in India, as startups in this domain experience a surge in funding and interest.

Sarvam AI raised more than $45 million in funding to focus on large language models tailored for India's diverse linguistic landscape. Similarly, seed-stage firms like VoiceOwl and Rabbitt AI have also raised funds recently.
