Hyderabad-based space tech startup Dhruva Space on June 28 announced that it will launch French satellite operator Kineis' payload in the second half of 2025. They will also collaborate to introduce Kineis' IoT-based connectivity solutions to the India.

Dhruva makes satellite infrastructure/platforms that it claims can be launched from any rocket, equipped with any payload, and operated from ground stations anywhere in the world.

Kineis is a company that specialises in satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity. The company aims to provide global, low-cost connectivity for various IoT applications by deploying a constellation of small satellites.

Kineis' IoT payload will sit on top of Dhruva's P-DoT satellite platform. P DoT is a picosatellite platform (for satellites weighing 1-24kg) developed by the startup. The other satellite platforms include P-DoT and P90 (for  satellites weighing up to 300 kg).

Through this collaboration, the two companies will also work on developing new applications which can be supported for Kinéis’ 25-satellite constellation.

Sanjay Nekkanti, Chief Executive Officer, Dhruva Space, states, “By enhancing this collaboration, we are poised to deliver innovative IoT services that will drive digital transformation and open new opportunities for businesses and communities throughout the country.”

Alexandre Tisserant, Chief Executive Officer, Kinéis, claimed that the applications of Kinéis'
connectivity ranged from environment, agriculture, monitoring of energy networks, to commercial maritime activities. He also said, ".. our commercial services will bring considerable benefits to Indian public and private players.”

However, before that, Dhruva Space is slated to launch its first hosted payload mission utilising its P-30 nanosatellite platform.
