Call of Duty Black Ops 6--the next mainline game in the Black Ops series--will come with some interesting and never-seen-before gameplay features across the entire game content. In this Call of Duty Black Ops 6 guide, we focus on the player movement-related aspects and explain two new types of global systems in Activision’s first-person shooter: Omnimovement and Intelligent Movement.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6: Welcome to OmnimovementWith Call of Duty Black Ops 6, lead developer Treyarch has added a global system related to the player movement called Omnimovement across the entire game, meaning it would also be present in Black Ops Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.
Activision refers to Omnimovement as “one of the biggest innovations” in Call of Duty Black Ops 6. So, what is meant by Omnimovement?
Omnimovement allows the Black Ops 6 players to “sprint, slide, and dive in any direction (forward, sidestepping, and backpedaling) and move like a true Black Ops action hero”.
Taking advantage of the new movement system, players can “seamlessly chain combat maneuvers together, like sliding, diving and a newly enhanced supine prone, all with a full 360 degrees range of motion”, claim the developers of Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6: What is Intelligent Movement? As per Call of Duty Black Ops 6 developers, Intelligent Movement is another player movement-related innovation “designed to drastically reduce how many buttons or keys you’re pressing to perform various movements”.
Intelligent Movement in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is all about what players want to achieve when they move and not how they want to achieve it.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6: Intelligent Movement may not suit everyoneHowever, Black Ops 6 developers caution that Intelligent Movement may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Intelligent Movement is not meant for “every in-game circumstance”, say the devs. That is why, Black Ops 6 gives players the freedom of a “purely optional set of setting menus”. They can enable or disable a command related to Omnimovement and Intelligent Movement to play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 their way.
As per Activision, there are three categories players can enable (or disable) in the Player Options: Sprint Assist, Mantle Assist and Crouch Assist.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 launches globally on October 25, 2024, across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Battle.net, Microsoft Store and Steam). Activision’s first-person shooter will also come to Xbox Game Pass.
