Online movie ticketing and entertainment platform BookMyShow reported a 27.6 percent uptick in profit at Rs 108.63 crore during the year ended March 2024, as compared to Rs 85.1 crore in the year-ago period, according to data from Tofler.
The company's revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,396.86 crore, up 43.2 percent year-on-year from Rs 975.51 crore.
Its total revenue stood at Rs 1,430.14 crore during the last financial year versus Rs 1,026.58 crore in FY23.
The firm’s total expenses increased 40.3 percent to Rs 1,319.88 crore in FY24 from Rs 940.86 crore during the previous financial year.
During the pandemic-hit FY21, the company witnessed a decline in revenues to Rs 74 crore due to the shutdown or restricted operations of multiplexes and live events.
In FY23, the majority of the company's income, constituting 66 percent of total operating revenue, came from ticket sales, amounting to Rs 648 crore in FY23—an increase of 2.85 times from Rs 227 crore in FY22.
Income from live events also experienced significant growth, reaching Rs 237 crore in FY23, a substantial increase of 9.5 times.
However, the live events vertical reported a loss of Rs 137.99 crore during FY24.
