Android Quick Share

Google’s Quick Share, which was previously known as Nearby Share, is Android’s answer to Apple’s AirDrop, as it provides fast wireless data transfer across multiple Android devices. It also got a Material Design makeover and a dedicated Windows app. Now it appears Google is adding QR support to set up file transfer on Android devices more easily.

As per a new report by Android Authority via Assemble Debug, Google Play Services has received the ability to generate a QR code on their device using the Share with QR code option under the Share with Anyone tab with the latest 24.20.13 update. It means the receiver can then scan using their device camera to set up an instant connection for file transfer.

There is a new Share with QR code option to initialize a connection using this method directly on Android’s Quick Share page. Previously, Android OS allowed you to share your Wi-Fi passwords and save time on setting up transfers without fiddling with device settings.

Although no specific release timeline has been set for this feature, early testing by AssembleDebug suggests that this update could be available soon on most Android devices. with iPhones. You will also need to turn on Bluetooth and Location while using the Quick Share feature.

Currently, the Quick Share feature is available on Android, Chrome OS, and Windows. It isis the closest clone Android users can get to Apple's AirDrop feature for sharing files, text, URLs, and other types of data files.
