Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about sequels in recent times, and now its OTT deal has added another headline-grabbing chapter to the story. After the massive theatrical success of Dhurandhar, the sequel’s digital rights have reportedly been sold for a staggering Rs 150 crore, placing it among the biggest OTT transactions in Indian cinema so far.

The buzz around Dhurandhar 2 intensified on January 30, 2026, the same day the first film made its digital debut and the sequel’s teaser dropped online.

Almost immediately, reports began circulating about a major change in the film’s streaming partner. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, those rumours are now confirmed, and the numbers behind the deal explain why the shift happened.

An industry source revealed that Netflix had initially offered a combined Rs 175 crore to acquire the digital rights of both Dhurandhar films together, even before the first instalment released in theatres. At the time, however, Jio Studios chose not to lock in the deal. That decision appears to have paid off. While the first film’s digital rights were eventually sold for Rs 85 crore, Dhurandhar 2 alone has now fetched nearly double that amount.

The source also told the publication that streaming platforms have been relatively cautious with big-ticket acquisitions in recent months, re-evaluating costs and audience behaviour. Dhurandhar’s explosive box office run and strong post-theatrical buzz, however, changed the equation. Sustained audience demand and franchise potential pushed platforms to loosen their purse strings for the sequel.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge continues the story of Hamza Ali Mazari, played by Ranveer Singh, as he rises to power following the death of Rehman Dakait, portrayed by Akshaye Khanna, in the first film. The sequel boasts a packed ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun.

The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. Its OTT premiere is reportedly expected on JioHotstar in the second week of May 2026, officially marking its move away from Netflix, a shift that was confirmed earlier with the unveiling of Dhurandhar 2’s first-look poster.
