Activision will not let Call of Duty players have a taste of the Black Ops 6 Campaign in early access, prior to the official launch date of Black Ops 6, according to a tweet by Charlie Intel on X, which is based on a statement from Activision. The US-based Call of Duty publisher wants the Call of Duty community to get access to all the game modes of Black Ops 6 on the same day, i.e. October 25, 2024.
In the statement given to Charlie Intel, Activision says: “The team is fully focused on October 25th. We are excited about all the game has to offer across Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies. This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25th. As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.”
Activision skipping on offering Black Ops 6 Campaign in early access is a far cry from the history of Call of Duty titles over the past few years. Players who’d pre-ordered the games usually used to get the benefit of getting the Campaign mode unlocked in early access. It meant getting to play the Campaign about a week before the game officially launched. That will not happen this year, though.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Campaign: Setting and charactersAccording to Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign is a “dynamic and intense” spy action thriller set in the early 1990s, the time signifying the end of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.
During this time of political upheaval, the story of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 sees the protagonists Frank Woods and Troy Marshall thrust “into a strange and clandestine conspiracy where a shadowy force has infiltrated the U.S. government.” To find the actual threat, they decide to build their own team of rogue agents.
Activision says that the Black Ops 6 Campaign story will have elements of “intrigue, distrust, and mind-bending psychological revelations”. The Black Ops 6 Campaign features both old and new characters like Frank Woods and his protégé Troy Marshall, Russell Adler, CIA handlerJane Harrow, Felix Neumann, Sevati Dumas, etc.
