India batting star Smriti Mandhana on Thursday (October 23) crossed a significant landmark and moved ahead of New Zealand’s Suzie Bates to become the second player with the most centuries in women’s ODIs. Mandhana did it in style against New Zealand in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
Now, with 14 ODI hundreds, Mandhana is only a former Australian captain Meg Lanning, who is at the top of the chart with 15 centuries. Other records that Mandhana broke are also listed below:
Most sixes in a single year (ODI cricket)
Moreover, Mandhana cracked a record for the highest number of sixes in a single calendar year in Women's ODI cricket besides setting a new landmark for the most sixes in a single year in Women's ODI cricket (29*). She did this to confirm herself as one of the most invincible batters of the modern game.
Most hundreds in a calendar year (ODI cricket)
5 - Tazmin Brits in 2025
5 - Smriti Mandhana in 2025
4 - Smriti Mandhana in 2024
She also equaled Tazmin Brits' record of most tons in a single calendar year.
Highest run-scorer (ODI opener)
Smriti Mandhana has set a new milestone by becoming the highest run-scoring opener in Women’s ODI history, overtaking New Zealand legend Suzie Bates’ tally of 5,088 runs — and she achieved the feat in 20 fewer innings.
Partnership record
Alongside her opening partner, Pratika Rawal, Mandhana put together a brilliant 212-run stand — the highest opening partnership ever recorded for India in a Women’s World Cup match. This partnership eclipsed the previous Indian record of 175 runs held by Thirush Kamini and Punam Raut from 2013.
