Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has responded calmly to being left out of the Asia Cup 2025 squad, saying he prefers to concentrate on his own game rather than worry about decisions that lie beyond his influence.
“I don’t think about it. It’s all in the hands of selectors. The decisions are taken according to the team combination. I will do whatever I can,” said Yashasvi Jaiswal while speaking to Mashable.
The 22-year-old’s omission surprised many, especially as he was in prime form this season. While Shubman Gill made his return to the side, Jaiswal, despite a standout IPL 2025, was overlooked. The left-hander piled up 559 runs in 14 matches at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 159.71, hitting six half-centuries with a top score of 75. Several former players had voiced the opinion that he deserved a call-up.
Jaiswal, however, remains determined to prove himself through performances.
“When my time comes, things will fall into place. I just want to keep working on myself and keep working hard,” he said.

So far, his international career has been promising. In 23 T20Is, Jaiswal has scored 723 runs at an average of 36.15 and an impressive strike rate of 164.31. His tally includes a century and five fifties, with his best being a blazing 100.
He also shone during the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England, where he scored 411 runs across the series. His contributions included two centuries—one in the first Test at Leeds and another in the series finale, which helped India set up a daunting target for England.
Even though he has missed out on the Asia Cup squad, Jaiswal’s consistency and hunger suggest that his opportunity in the Indian team is far from over.
