The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England has been filled with intense moments and it continues to build. Joe Root and Prasidh Krishna squared off on the second day of the fifth and final Test match at the Oval. The former England captain was visibly upset when the Indian pacer had a few words with him after being hit for a boundary. The exchange got heated up to an extent that on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Kumar Dharmasena had to step in and speak to both players.
When Joe Root had a go at Prasidh, KL Rahul chose to defend his teammate and went to Dharmasena to find out what the commotion was about. Rahul was reprimanded for his tone by the Sri Lankan umpire. Dharmasena was asked by Rahul if the official wants to watch the Indian team only bat and bowl and do nothing else on the field. Dharmasena agreed with Joe Root, arguing that a bowler cannot speak so directly.
However, Dharmasena irked by it responded that there would be a "discussion" about it after the match. This put an end to the conversation between the two.
Rahul: "What do you want us to do? Be quiet?"
Dharmasena: "You will like any bowler come and walk to you? No, you can't do that. No, Rahul, we should not go on that way."
Rahul: "What do you want us to do? Just bat and bowl and go home?"
Dharmasena: "We will discuss at the end of the match. You can't talk like that."
