Virat Kohli pulls Shubman Gill by the arm to pass tips, KL Rahul keenly listens

Even though Shubman Gill now leads the Indian cricket team, he would greatly benefit from the advice of past captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Gill hasn't had much luck, either with the bat nor in the toss. Since taking over as India's captain first in the Test format and now in ODIs, he has only won one toss in ten games, In addition he is yet to slam a white-ball fifty since IPL 2025.

To make matters worse, India are currently vying for a consolation victory in the dead-rubber at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday, having already lost the series, which is Gill's first after being named as ODI captain.

Gill, however, was been spot on with his decisions in the third encounter at SCG, starting from the two changes in the playing XI.

Australia, who won the toss and opted to bat, got off to a fast start with the opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head smashing 61 in nine overs. However, Gill began to demonstrate his captaincy skills when he brilliantly rotated the spinners and, with the assistance of Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel, choked Australia's scoring in the middle overs.

Amidst all these he along with KL Rahul were seen receiving some tips from former skipper Kohli. The incident happened when Gill was returning to his fielding position between overs. Kohli intervened and pulled him by the arm, and engaged in an animated chat with wicketkeeper KL Rahul also present.

Gill took in all that Kohli had to say, following which all three went to their respective fielding position.

They can share all their knowledge, although eventually it's up to Gill whether he wants to implement it," the commentator noted discussing the moment.
