The 15th match of IPL 2024 will see the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Lucknow Super Giants at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. The match will be played under the lights on Tuesday and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
RCB will be the first team to play their fourth match of this season, but even though they have played the highest number of matches, their standing at the points table is at the lower half. RCB began their 2024 journey with an away loss at Chennai. They rallied back to win the second tie against Punjab Kings by 4 wickets. However, they once again suffered a crushing defeat in the third match losing the tie against Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets. One of the few teams that has never won the IPL, RCB would look forward to garnering full points against the dangerous Lucknow side.
While assembling their best playing XI, RCB will once again face their perennial problem – their batting order is too dependent on the Big Three of Faf, Kohli, and Maxwell while their bowling always looks short of firepower. RCB have tried Alzarri Joseph in the first three matches this season – but his combined returns of 1 for 115 in three matches doesn’t inspire confidence. RB may look to replace their most expensive buy Joseph (11.5 crores) with Lockie Fergusson or left-arm pacer Reece Topley.
In the batting department, Rajat Patidar at three has produced a meagre 15 runs in 3 outings – he may get one more choice but knows fully well that Mahipal Lomlor is breathing heavily down his neck.
LSG will be playing their third game of the season – they lost the first against Rajasthan Royals on the road but bounced back to beat Punjab Kings at their home venue. They had a good outing in the game and young Mayank Yadav impressed all with his pace and guile. LSG’s only selection issue is KL Rahul himself – does he come as an impact player or make a start in the first eleven?
