The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended for a week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The decision have received strong support from franchises and prominent cricketing figures who have expressed solidarity with the Indian armed forces.

The suspension followed the sudden abandonment of a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala. The match was stopped after 10.1 overs, initially attributed to a floodlight failure. However, reports of explosions in nearby Jammu raised serious security concerns, leading to the stadium’s evacuation and the everyone being escorted to safety.

In light of the escalating border situation, IPL authorities decided to pause the tournament. Teams and players have widely supported the move, emphasizing that national security takes precedence over sport.

Here's how the IPL teams reacted to the suspension...

Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings shared their support with the message: "Nation first. Everything else can wait." They followed up with a tribute, stating, “Courage in every step. Pride in every heartbeat. Saluting our armed forces!”

Royal Challengers Bengaluru expressed similar sentiments, posting: “In this hour of national crisis, we salute the unwavering courage and bravery of our Indian Armed Forces, and pray for the safety of everyone in India. Jai Hind.”

Mumbai Indians affirmed their support by saying, “We stand together with strength, with solidarity, with our armed forces. Jai Hind.”

Rajasthan Royals declared their commitment: “With our armed forces. Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow. Forever Jai Hind.”

Kolkata Knight Riders honored the military, stating: “Standing tall, guarding us all – the Indian Armed Forces, our living shield. Nation comes first.”

Delhi Capitals posted: “In solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces. We stand with you, today and always. Jai Hind.”

SunRisers Hyderabad saluted the military's dedication: “We salute the unwavering dedication of the Indian Armed Forces.”

Gujarat Titans conveyed unity in their message: “We stand strong and united, honouring our heroes in uniform.”

Lucknow Super Giants kept it brief but powerful: “Nation first."

Veteran cricket anchor Jatin Sapru voiced his support for the IPL suspension, describing it as a "fair call" and tweeting, “The sport will always return in pleasant times but for now it’s time for our all-out support to one team alone – Our Defence Forces! Jai Hind.”
