The Indian Premier League (IPL) has unearthed many cricketing talents and Jitesh Sharma is one among the lot. He was part of the Mumbai Indians franchise but never got a chance to play for them. His breakthrough came in the Punjab Kings colors and shortly after he was also handed a chance to represent the national team in the shorter format. The wicketkeeper-batter has nine T20I appearances so far and was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Rs 11 crore at the mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last November.
In his cricketing journey thus far, Jitesh has celebrated many highs and is regarded as a promising wicket-keeping prospect. Jitesh is currently engaged in the IPL and has been an integral part of the RCB set-up, who are vying for their maiden title in the cash-rich tournament. Mostly batting lower down the order, Jitesh at a strike-rate of over 140 has accumulated 128 runs from 8 innings, thrice returning unbeaten.

While Jitesh is having a good run with RCB, behind the scenes there is something which fans may not be aware of. Team's talismanic batter Virat Kohli when asked which RCB teammate he would and would not share a room with made an interesting revelation about Jitesh.
"One guy who is really funny but hasn't opened up with me is Jitesh. I would really want to see that fun, raw side of him. Because I can see it in his eyes that he has got that mischief about him. He is very street smart – you can see that on the field. He finds different ways of looking at things. So I would like to get to know him more," said Kohli in a video shared on RCB's social media profile.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Swastik Chikara found himself in the other category. "I won't say it's Swastik Chikara because he doesn't leave me alone. So definitely not him."
Chikara's bonding with Kohli did create some buzz when the IPL 2025 began. The uncapped player was recorded using Kohli's cologne without the former's permission, another video shared by the franchise.
Kohli is among the top contenders for the Orange Cap with 505 runs from 11 encounters, which includes seven half-centuries - the most by any batter this season.
