Rahman's IPL journey started with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. He picked up 17 wickets, and the franchise won the title. In the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he had dismissed the veteran Australian batter Shane Watson. His best performance in that season (3/16) came against Mumbai Indians. Rahman had dismissed Hardik Pandya among the other batters.

Rahman's 2021 season with Rajasthan Royals was an impressive one. He picked up 14 wickets in as many matches. The fast bowler has played Pakistan Super League and the Bangladesh Premier League at home after cutting his teeth in the high-pressure IPL in the neighbouring country.

The 28-year-old is probably the second Bangladesh player after Shakib Al Hasan to get a long rope in the IPL. He is an experienced international cricketer with 91 T20Is and 107 wickets. He has been a potent force in Bangladesh cricket since his debut in 2015 in Mirpur against Pakistan. The youngster had picked up the prized wickets of Shahid Afridi and Mohammed Hafeez, big guns of Pakistan cricket.

Later that year, he bamboozled India in the ODI series at home. He returned 5/50 and 6/43 in consecutive matches.
