Shivalik Sharma, a 26-year-old cricketer has been arrested on rape charges. As per NDTV Rajasthan, the Baroda-based cricketer was taken into custody by Rajasthan Police. A complaint was filed at the Kudi Bhagatsani police station in Jodhpur after which Sharma was arrested. After the investigation, he was in court and was sent to judicial custody.

As per media reports, the woman has filed a police complaint against Sharma, accusing him of engaging in physical relations with her under the false promise of marriage. The two met during a trip to Vadodara in February 2023 and developed a close relationship, maintaining regular contact over the phone. Eventually, their families met and agreed to an engagement, which was formalized in August 2023 when Sharma’s parents visited Jodhpur.

After the engagement, Sharma returned to Jodhpur and allegedly had physical relations with the woman. The couple also traveled to various places in Rajasthan together. However, in August 2024, when the woman visited Vadodara, Sharma’s parents informed her that he was a cricketer and that they were considering other marriage proposals, indicating that the engagement would not proceed. After this, the woman then lodged a formal complaint with the police. Authorities confirmed that all necessary legal procedures, including the woman’s medical examination and court statement, have been completed. Meanwhile, Sharma, who had been avoiding arrest, was being traced by the police after the complaint.

Shivalik Sharma is a Baroda cricketer who has played alongside Hardik Pandya and under the leadership of Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Krunal Pandya.

Sharma made his first-class debut in 2018 and has since scored 1,087 runs in 18 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 43.48. In List A cricket, he has accumulated 322 runs across 13 games at an average of 29.27. In the T20 format, he has played 19 domestic matches, scoring 349 runs at an average of 24.92 and a striking strike rate of 147.88. His most recent professional outing was in January 2025, representing Baroda in the Ranji Trophy.
