"The scores are gettable, you have to bat well to get that. We batted well in patches, there was no consistent momentum. We started well but knew the game would start once spin comes on. We lost a few wickets and fell behind. Came back through the stand between Axar and Rahul. Disappointed to not get 1 run with 14 balls, but won't read too much. The bite was there at the start and then the ball became softer as the seam wore off. It was not a game where you can play your shots, had to apply yourself and dig in. Proud of how we fought, was important to hold our nerve"

Dunith Wellalage gets Player of the Match award. He says, "The wicket was helping spin, so I wanted to put them under pressure. Me and Liyanage wanted to put on a partnership, and then had a good partnership with Hasaranga. The wicket was slow, we planned to score about 220. Wicket was a bit better in the second innings. Our skipper and Hasaranga changed the game."

Given out lbw and Asitha is absolutely thrilled! Rohit though has reviewed after a consultation with his partner. The fact he needed the consult means its likely there's no bat. And the eye test suggests this is very close. Once again Asitha's seam movement into the right-hander causes problems. He makes sure it starts on off stump and its pitched up too. That leaves Rohit with no clue how this ball will behave. The inward movement beats him comfortably and hits him on the knee roll. Hawk-Eye though shows the new ball has too much bounce and it is clearing the wickets.

Wicket was turning a bit, so played my normal game. Since the track was slow, I tried to sweep the ball and rotated the strike. India have a good batting line-up but I think 230 is a good score. We have No. 1 bowler Wanindu Hasaranga and good fast bowlers. Wicket not easy to bat on, so we will try to get partnerships with the ball.

With half-centuries from Pathum Nissanka and Wellalage, Sri Lanka recovered from 101/5 to end the innings at 230 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Indian bowling was good throughout the innings but last 15 overs witnessed some good shot making from the Sri Lankan batsmen. It would be interesting to see the way Team India would approach this score.

Washington spins around for a big lbw appeal. Umpire Wilson raises his finger, but hold on height could be an issue here. Nissanka has called for a review. On a length and turns in sharply to beat the inside edge and strike the front pad above the knee-roll. No bat/glove involved. It would've clipped leg stump, so enough for umpire's call to be upheld. Axar Patel gets the breakthrough for India as he gets the wicket of Samarawickrama. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat against India. At the end of 18 overs, Sri Lanka are 60 at the loss of two wickets. They have a problem of consistency in their batting line up and this was reflected in the recently concluded T20I series. Initially, however, the pitch offers a solid batting surface, allowing batsmen to rely on consistent bounce and play their shots with confidence.
