India register highest T20I total among Test playing nation, check who leads the tally

India's previous highest T20I total was 260/5, which the team had registered against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Sanju Samson scored 111(47) as India slammed their highest T20I score in the third encounter against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. India piled 297/6 in 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat. This is the highest T20I total by any Test playing nation. India's previous highest T20I total was 260/5, which the Men In Blue had registered against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Meanwhile, Nepal lead the chart with 314/3, which they had achieved against Mongolia in 2023. Afghanistan are placed third with 278/3 against Ireland, which came back in 2019. The fourth spot is held by Czech Republic, who had slammed 278/4 against Turkey in 2019. Malaysia are at fifth with 268/4 against Thailand.

England and Australia are the other two Test playing nations, who are placed sixth and seventh respectively in the tally. England had slammed 267/3 against West Indies in 2023, while Australia had scaled 263/3 against Sri Lanka in 2016.

Samson gave India an explosive start as he hit Taskin Ahmed for four consecutive fours in his first over. Samson then went to complete his half-century, taking just 22 deliveries to reach the milestone. The hitting by Samson continued and he completed his maiden T20I ton in just 40 deliveries. He was eventually dismissed for 111(47).

Suryakumar Yadav also entertained the crowd with a 35-ball 75. He and Samson added 173 runs for the second wicket. It started with the duo taking India to 82/1 at the end of powerplay and then beyond the 100-run mark inside eight overs. The party continued as the hosts crossed 150 at the halfway stage.

India then edged past 200 in the 14th over and 250 in the 17th. Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag also played some handy knocks, which kept the momentum intact after Bangladesh got rid of Samson and Suryakumar. Pandya scored 18-ball 47 before getting dismissed, while Parag blasted 34 in just 13 deliveries.

Abhishek Sharma was dismissed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib for run a ball four. Rinku Singh returned unbeaten in 8(4). Nitish Kumar Reddy failed to open his account, while Sundar managed 1 in the solitary ball he faced in the innings.
