During the final day of the fourth Test between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester, a man resembling popular English singer Ed Sheeran caught the attention of fans in the stadium. Interestingly, Ed Sheeran himself has had a few cricketing encounters recently. While on tour in India earlier this year, the Grammy-winning artist met former England captain Jos Buttler at a concert in Pune. Sheeran also visited the Rajasthan Royals’ camp, where he enjoyed a game of cricket with young stars like Riyan Parag and Tushar Deshpande.

As for the action on the field, India ended day four on 174 for 2, but suffered quick setbacks on the fifth morning. Ben Stokes removed KL Rahul for 90, while Jofra Archer accounted for Shubman Gill after the latter notched up a superb 103. Despite the blows, the visitors continued to battle through the efforts of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Gill’s century was his fourth of the series, placing him in elite company. He now joins legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Sir Don Bradman as captains who have scored four centuries in a single Test series.
Earlier in the match, England posted a towering first-innings total of 669, thanks to centuries from Joe Root (150) and Ben Stokes (141). It marked the highest-ever team total at Old Trafford. Root’s innings also helped him move past several all-time greats, making him the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket history—trailing only India’s Sachin Tendulkar, who tops the list with 15,921 runs.
