India were dealt an early blow on Day 1 of the Manchester Test when Rishabh Pant suffered a right foot injury, sparking concerns that the visitors might be reduced to ten batters. The sight of Pant being driven off the field in a medical buggy only deepened the worry.
However, in a new update, the BCCI confirmed that the vice-captain has rejoined the team on Day 2 and will be available to bat, providing a timely boost to India’s middle order.

"Rishabh Pant, who sustained an injury to his right foot on Day 1 of the Manchester Test, will not be performing wicket-keeping duties for the remainder of the match. Dhruv Jurel will assume the role of wicket-keeper," wrote BCCI on X.
"Despite his injury, Rishabh Pant has joined the team on Day 2 and will be available to bat as per team requirements," the statement added.

Shortly after the BCCI issued an update on Rishabh Pant's condition, he was seen back in the Indian dressing room, standing behind head coach Gautam Gambhir. Later, he walked out to bat limping after Ben Stokes removed Shardul Thakur.
Earlier in the morning session on Day 2, India lost an early wicket, with Jofra Archer dismissing Ravindra Jadeja.
This is the second injury setback for Pant in the ongoing series. During the Lord’s Test, he had sustained a painful blow to his right-hand finger, forcing him to briefly leave the field. Although Dhruv Jurel stepped in as the wicketkeeper, Pant still managed to return and bat in both innings of that match.
