Sandhi Puja holds a special place in the nine-day celebration of Chaitra Navratri. In 2025, this important ritual will be observed on Saturday, April 5, marking the transition between the Ashtami (eighth day) and Navami (ninth day) of the festival.

Sandhi Puja 2025 Date and Time 

Sandhi Puja is performed at the precise moment when Ashtami Tithi ends and Navami Tithi begins. This sacred juncture, known as "Sandhi Kaal," is believed to be a highly powerful and spiritually charged period.

According to Hindu mythology, it was during this time that Goddess Chamunda emerged to defeat the demons Chanda and Munda, who were terrorising the heavens. Her divine intervention represents the victory of good over evil and is celebrated with deep devotion and grandeur.

Timing and Duration

The duration of Sandhi Puja is two Ghatis, which is approximately 48 minutes. Since the timing varies each year based on lunar calculations, the puja can fall at any time of the day or night. Devotees are advised to check the exact muhurta to perform the ritual at the most auspicious moment.

Rituals Performed

During Sandhi Puja, special offerings such as flowers, sweets, fruits, and diyas (lamps) are presented to the Goddess. The ritual often includes chanting of mantras, lighting of 108 lamps, and recitation of Durga Saptashati. Some devotees also perform Kumari Puja, where young girls are worshipped as embodiments of the divine feminine.

Sandhi Puja is not just a religious tradition but a spiritual reminder of the power of devotion and righteousness. It encourages devotees to invoke inner strength and destroy negativity from their lives, just as Goddess Chamunda destroyed the demons.
