Raksha Bandhan 2024 Date and Time

Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, 2024. It is a festival that honors the bond between siblings. On this day, sisters prepare a special Puja Thali and perform the Rakhi ceremony to express their love and prayers for their brothers.

How to Prepare Raksha Bandhan Puja Thali

To create a traditional and well-prepared Raksha Bandhan Puja Thali, start with a decorative thali or plate. Place the Rakhi at the center, symbolizing protection. Include essential items such as roli (vermilion) and chawal (rice grains) for applying the tilak, a diya (oil lamp) to represent divine light, sweets like ladoos or barfis to add sweetness to the relationship, and fresh flowers to enhance the thali's beauty. You can also place a small container of water for purification and a coconut, which holds special significance in rituals.

Raksha Bandhan 2024 Date and Time

Once your Puja Thali is ready, follow the auspicious timings for the Rakhi ceremony. The Raksha Bandhan Thread Ceremony can be performed between 01:30 PM to 09:08 PM (a duration of 7 hours and 38 minutes). The Aparahna Time Muhurat, the most favorable period for tying the Rakhi, is between 01:43 PM to 04:20 PM (lasting 2 hours and 37 minutes). Alternatively, the Pradosh Time Muhurat falls between 06:56 PM to 09:08 PM (lasting 2 hours and 11 minutes), which is another auspicious time to perform the ceremony.

It’s important to note that the Bhadra period, considered inauspicious, ends at 01:30 PM on August 19, 2024. Bhadra Punchha occurs from 09:51 AM to 10:53 AM, and Bhadra Mukha lasts from 10:53 AM to 12:37 PM. It’s advised to avoid performing the Rakhi ceremony during these times.

The festival takes place on Purnima Tithi, which begins at 03:04 AM on August 19, 2024, and ends at 11:55 PM the same day. Prepare your thali with care, and ensure to follow these auspicious timings to make your Raksha Bandhan celebration even more meaningful.
