The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj witnessed an unexpected highlight when a man dressed as Lord Hanuman captivated the attention of thousands of visitors.
Identified as Ranjan Kumar, the man became a crowd favorite as devotees and visitors eagerly gathered to take selfies with him. Speaking to ANI, Kumar expressed his devotion, saying, "I am a big devotee of Lord Hanuman. I feel very good that people are coming and taking selfies with me." His vibrant attire and demeanor not only added to the festive atmosphere but also symbolized the deep spiritual connection many feel during this grand event.
Fire Incident Under Investigation
Amid the excitement of the Mela, fire safety and emergency preparedness have also become focal points following a recent fire incident. On Sunday, a fire broke out due to the explosion of three cooking gas cylinders at one of the camps. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Avinash Chandra, Director General (Fire), addressed the situation, assuring that the local police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. He emphasized that while rumors may circulate, the findings will only be confirmed after the investigation is complete.
Robust Fire Safety Measures
Chandra highlighted the extensive fire safety arrangements made for the Maha Kumbh Mela, which surpass the standard measures in place across the Prayagraj district. "In the entire Kumbh area, fire safety has been taken with great sincerity," he stated.
To ensure quick response times, 53 fire stations and over 20 fire posts have been established within the Mela premises, supported by more than 1,300 firefighters and 300 vehicles. In comparison, the entire Prayagraj district operates with nine fire stations and 175 personnel. Chandra reassured devotees, saying, "Our response time is around three minutes. Vehicles can reach the spot in less than three to four minutes. Devotees can come here without any worry as we have infallible fire and police arrangements in place."
CM Yogi Adityanath Visits the Site
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally visited the site of Sunday’s fire incident. He inspected the affected area and interacted with officials and firefighting teams to ensure all safety protocols are being followed. His visit reinforced the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of the millions attending this spiritual event.
As the Maha Kumbh Mela continues to draw massive crowds, both spiritual highlights like Ranjan Kumar’s Hanuman portrayal and stringent safety measures are playing a pivotal role in making the event memorable and secure for all.
