This sacred festival holds immense significance for devotees, who observe fasting (Janmashtami Vrat), perform midnight Puja Vidhi, and participate in joyful celebrations like Dahi Handi.

According to the Hindu Panchang, Krishna Janmashtami falls on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The Nishita Puja Muhurat, the time when Lord Krishna is believed to have taken birth will begin at 12:01 AM and end at 12:46 AM on August 17. The duration of the Nishita Puja is 45 minutes.

Significance of Krishna Janmashtami

Krishna Janmashtami commemorates the divine appearance of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Devotees keep a day-long fast, sing bhajans, read Bhagavad Gita, and offer special bhog to Baal Gopal. The midnight Puja marks the exact time of His birth, with rituals such as Shodashopachara Puja, Abhishekam, and offering of butter and sweets.
