Dhaka (Bangladesh), June 26: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is all set to celebrate the grand Rath Yatra 2025 festival of Sri Sri Jagannath Dev in Bangladesh, with enhanced security arrangements in place. Starting from June 27, the nine-day religious celebration in Dhaka will bring together thousands of devotees to mark one of the most significant events in Sanatan Dharma.

Rath Yatra Festival in Dhaka Begins June 27

According to an ISKCON priest, the Rath Yatra in Bangladesh will begin on Friday at 3:00 PM. This annual celebration, deeply rooted in the Hindu tradition, is marked by the pulling of a grand chariot carrying Lord Jagannath, accompanied by his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra. Describing it as a “grand gathering of harmony, devotion, and joyful chanting of Harinama,” the ISKCON priest emphasized the spiritual importance of the Rath Yatra celebrations in Dhaka.

Chariot Procession Route and Schedule

The colorful Rath Yatra procession will pass through key landmarks in Dhaka, including:

  • ISKCON Swamibag Ashram
  • Joykali Temple
  • Ittefaq Intersection
  • Shapla Chattar
  • Dainik Bangla Intersection
  • North side of Baitul Mukarram Mosque
  • Paltan Intersection
  • Press Club
  • Kadam Foara
  • High Court Shrine
  • Doel Chattar
  • Shaheed Minar
  • Jagannath Hall
  • Palasi Intersection

The procession will conclude at the historic Dhakeshwari Temple. The return Rath Yatra, known as Ulto Rath, will follow the same route in reverse on Saturday, July 5, starting at the same time.

Traffic Restrictions and Security Arrangements

In light of the expected large turnout, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Traffic Division has requested transporters and commuters to avoid the designated Rath Yatra routes between 2 PM and 6 PM on June 27 and July 5. Authorities have assured that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the festival.

The ISKCON Rath Yatra in Dhaka is not only a religious observance but also a symbol of communal harmony and cultural pride. Every year, devotees chant, dance, and pull the sacred chariot as a gesture of devotion, while the streets resonate with bhajans and the sound of traditional instruments. This year, the celebration gains additional importance as ISKCON continues to promote peaceful spiritual events in Bangladesh, encouraging interfaith unity and safeguarding Hindu religious festivals through close coordination with local authorities.
