  • Wake up early, take a bath and wear clean red clothes
  • Clean the puja space and sprinkle Ganga water for purification
  • Spread a red cloth and place Maa Durga’s idol or picture
  • Offer red chunri, vermillion, roli, akshat (rice) and kumkum
  • Offer favourite flowers of Devi such as marigold, jasmine and mogra
  • Prepare bhog like halwa, puri, chana and coconut
  • Light a ghee diya and incense sticks
  • Chant Maa Durga mantras, recite Durga Chalisa or Durga Saptashati
  • Conclude with aarti seeking divine blessings
