Leading Pakistani news channel Dawn was hacked by anonymous hackers. An advertisement running on this TV channel featured the Indian Tricolour, accompanied by the message 'Happy Independence Day'.

The incident took place at around 03:30 pm on August 2. Dawn News subsequently put out a tweet in Urdu. The tweet read, "The Dawn administration has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter."

Dawn also released a statement on their website stating that viewers would be informed as soon as the investigation was completed.

"On August 2, Dawn News was broadcasting as usual when suddenly the Indian flag and the text of Happy Independence Day appeared on the commercial running on the screen. It remained for some time and then disappeared," the company said, adding that "it would be premature to comment on the matter."
