The container ship named the Dali was sailing down the Patapsco River, which struck a pylon of the bridge, crumpling almost the entire structure into the water, was manned entirely by a crew of Indians. However, no casualties were reported from the vessel.

This was confirmed by shipping company Maersk, which had chartered the Singapore-flagged container ship, named Dali.

"All crew members are Indian and 22 in total number. They have been accounted for and there are no reports of any injuries. There has also been no pollution. Whilst the exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined, the ‘DALI’ has now mobilised its Qualified Individual Incident response service," said Grace Ocean Ptd Ltd.

Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed early on March 26 after a container ship smashed into the four-lane span, plunging cars into the river.

The Key Bridge partially collapsed and workers may be in the river, police said on March 26, after media reports that a cargo ship had hit the bridge. A search is on for the missing people flung into the river during the collapse, as per the report.

The extent of the damage to the 3 km (1.6 mile) bridge was not immediately clear, the New York Times said, while Fox Baltimore said the bridge had collapsed into the Patapsco River.
