Boeing Co resumed certification tests of its 787 Dreamliner on Monday for the first time since an in-flight electrical fire in November knocked those trials off schedule.
Boeing said in a statement that four wide body test aircraft were back in service and two others should be flying as early as this week as well. The company resumed limited 787 test flights in December, but restarting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification program is essential for it to move forward with plans for delivering the first aircraft.Boeing's first quarter 2011 delivery schedule is expected to slip because of the fire that erupted in an electrical panel as a test flight prepared to land in Texas on November 9.The company is expected to disclose the impact of the fire and test-flight setbacks on its production schedule soon. The 787 has experienced a half-dozen delays due to engineering and supply chain problems.Delivery is nearly three years behind schedule. Discover the latest Business News, Sensex, and Nifty updates.
